Summer hiatus brought tourist travel to Ireland, a 40-mile walk, service, and fund-raising endeavor in Kenya, and a big fat retirement party! I am ready to resume Monday Musings with an evolving perspective and updated schedule (still on Mondays; although not necessarily every Monday.)
Speaking of evolving, a big fear for my post-retirement next phase is that my world will become narrower. As I observe others who navigate this transition well, I realize they’re evolving not into a narrowed status, but rather into a wider world – one that is perhaps emptier of paid work, but full of new experiences, learnings, purpose, and joy. They are my new mentors.
