We all know that front-line workers have had tremendous challenges over the last couple of years. We are also hearing from many workers across all other industries that they, too, are experiencing “burnout”.

Liz Wiseman, leadership researcher and author of Multipliers, speculated in a recent Harvard Business Review article that this pervasive malaise may not be from too much work, but from too little impact. If we are working hard with little sense of accomplishment or making a difference, it’s exhausting.

One of her recommendations really resonated with me: Avoid reckless persistence.

Not everything has the same priority and many things I have started and not finished may just need to be jettisoned. That makes way for more meaningful new endeavors.
