Last week, a neighbor walked her beautiful dog past my car as I was parking. The dog was big and appeared so powerful. When I emerged from my car, the dog started to bark at me very loudly; it actually frightened me.
Keeping the car door between me and the dog, I asked the owner, “What a beautiful dog… what kind is he? And is he always that angry-sounding?” She responded, “He is a Standard Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dog mix. And he barks that loudly when he is scared.”
This seems so human-like to me – anger emanating from fear, even when you appear to be the strongest among us.
