The Emmy nominations are out, and I have suddenly realized I am woefully behind in my current awareness of TV. There are some nominations I am familiar with – some I have watched; others I have intentionally not watched. Yet, I am stunned at the number of shows and actors I have never even heard of.
I wonder, is this due to my limited social connections during the pandemic? Although work was very productive via phone and Zoom, I believe the social commentary that typically happens between topics was absent – and greatly missed over the last 15 months.
On my COVID island, isolated with my very small tribe, I have missed a tremendous amount of pop culture unfolding around me. I intend to step up the socializing and streaming… the awards are September 19 and I expect to correct my ignorance by then.
