When I had the pleasure of teaching in Jack Welch’s Executive MBA fully-online program, he advised all faculty that we had one job: building students’ self-confidence. We were stunned – and yet, Welch was right. The unfamiliar, new experience made even the most competent, brilliant students full of fear and self-doubt.

Cut to USA Olympic ice skater Nathan Chen who, after a disappointing fifth place performance at the 2018 Winter Olympics, just won Gold in Beijing. Chen has confessed that in 2018 he was fearful, overwhelmed, and uncertain; today, he finds balance and joy in his skating.
